After granting User login permission. No Dashboard

I created an additional user account to allow for entry through the front end. After entering the email and password, permission is granted and the site opens, but there is no dashboard for editing. HELP! If you Please!

You have to assign a group for this user and, logged as admin, assign correct permissions to the dashboard pages on sitemap.

Thanks for you reply.

I have created two groups...admin and web team. I have registered two users. admin and debby. as soon as I come through the front page with admin, the dash board pops up.
when I enter with debby I get just the front home page with not way to edit or go to the dash board.
I have not found a way to assign debby to the web team group.
Sorry about this confusion, but would appreciate additional help.

Remenber to enable sitemap "show system pages" option.
And edit permissions for the dashboard page, set manually and add the web team group.

Look at the image attached.

That is certainly a very arse backwards way of doing it.

Took me a few minutes to actually try and decipher what was being said, and a few more minutes to figure out how to do it on the site.

There's a few traps to beware of.

Firstly, if you already are the administrator and you set the "show system pages" option you will wipe out yours and everybody else's privileges.

After you've set this option, whatever you do don't logout. The first thing you need to do is go back to your own profile in Users and Groups, select edit user and then re add all the groups you were originally part of, especially the Administrator.

If you don't, you'll never get back in again.

Then repeat the process for anyone else you want to be an administrator.

Hope this prevents anyone else from wondering what the hell's going on.

OMG! I think that is exactly what happened to me. Recently when I've tried to sign in, the site doesn't recognize my login info. I do remember changing to "show system pages" and now I have logged out not knowing that this would be the result. I have no access to the dashboard. When I try to sign in, it just redirects me to "Page not found." There is no way to get back in? I have spent three months on this.
Can someone help with a way to fix this problem.

Thanks for any help.

Just to clarify, because this is an old and confusing thread, I do not believe this is true, or ever was:

"If you set show system pages option you will wipe our yours and everyone else's privileges"

I've never had that happen, I've clicked that check box plenty, and I don't see how it ever would be the case.

I'm sure something may be going on to lock you out, but its not that.

Can you please offer any suggestions on how to fix this problem. The last thing I did the last time I had access to the dashboard was to add a page, change the option to show system pages and log out when I was done with minor text edits. The next morning, I did not have access to the dashboard

Prior History,
Two days earlier, I noticed that when I clicked a couple of pages, I was redirected to "Page not found" and all pages did not appear. I had only allowed access to administrator and noone else. With the assistance of Hostmonster support, I was told to allow public access which I did. Everything seemed fine, all pages appeared after just doing that. Two days later which brings me to the beginning of my post, same thing happened again only this time I can not access the dashboard. Only other thing I changed was to "show system pages."

Please take a look at what happens when I try to sign inhttp://www.irbregs.com/index.php/login/...

Please I would be grateful for any help you can provide. Thanks,

I'm not confident there isn't something else going on here, but here's how to get a bug on our radar.

1) Setup a copy of concrete on our trail servers:
http://www.concrete5.org/about/trial/...

2) Reproduce the problem there, doing NOTHING else but what you describe in the step-by-step instructions.

3) Create a bug report over here:
http://www.concrete5.org/developers/bugs/...

4) Other developers will then see it and try to recreate the bug. If they can, they vote its priority up by telling us this is indeed a bug. If they can't reproduce it, that helps us too.

The reason we have to do this is so we're actually talking about apples and apples. There's any number of things which could simply be missing or misconfigured from your install. There's also any number of things you may be doing beyond clicking the show system pages box and you're just not thinking they matter or remembering they happened. We can't really afford to spend our time chasing around every challenge people run into with concrete5 for free, so short of opening a support request this is the best way to get a real bug identified and on our radar to eventually address.

Wish I had an easier answer for ya, but at least it's an answer. ;)

i know this is an old thread but i just thought i'd weigh in.

i was a little lost on giving user groups permissions, like the first post, i couldn't figure out why a new user wasn't seeing the dashboard after logging in until i stumbled on to this thread. good thing i did though cause after reading adadas' post, i thought i'd make sure and yeah, there i was out of the administrators group. i had to go back to edit and add myself as the only administrator again.

in my case though, i only added advanced permissions today with the site due to be launched within the next week or so after a couple of months in development. i read somewhere that it can get funky when changing it at this point. i'll see if i can replicate it with our next project.
