Deleted files showing up in Google Search

I have taken over the "administration" or our company's intranet which is powered by concrete5. The previous "administrator" was our MD who sadly passed away last year. I am therefore looking for some advice as a complete numpty when it comes to understanding IT problems.

Recently it has been brought to our attention that some of our files, which are set to only the Administrators and Users to view, are actually downloadable from google and other search engines. One of the files I have actually deleted from the file manager, but is still showing in Google.

Do you have any advice for me on how to remove the accessibility of the files via search engines?

Hello,
If permissions were set correctly at the Concrete5 level, the only way I know of for Google and others to have access to it is if the server itself is granting access to its folders, which it shouldn't.

One thing you can try is to navigate to the folder application\files in your browser. If you get access to a list of files then that's your problem.

As for deleted files, they are deleted from the Database but not removed from the server. So if I am correct about the issue above, it also applies to deleted files.
