Global blocks not global

So, after getting Access Denied errors on some global blocks, with no apparent solution, I deleted them all and recreated them once, made them global blocks, then pasted from the global scrapbook on every other page. These are blocks in a sidebar by the way.

I just discovered they are not all global. If I make a change to one that is, I get the yellow notification at the top and all is well. However, the majority of them are not. So, I decide that since I pasted this from the global scrapbook, I'll edit them from there too. That also made no difference.

What the heck is going on with these global blocks? It's sort of important that you can have consistent information across a website. Between the Access Denied stuff and now this it's getting quite frustrating.

I am having the same issue. The block remains global when edited in the scrapbook but if you try it on a page, wham, global display is gone and access denied everywhere but the scrapbook

I have this issue too. Rarely for global blocks posted from scrapbook, but always when I try to post a block in base version of a page type. They are global on every created page, but not the same global as a base one nor in "one space". So when I change one - only that one changes. Global as default module in a page doesn't work. It also sometimes happen to blocks posted from scrapbook - it's frustrating. And those access denied. C5 Team please fix it.

I'll just report that I've seen this behavior as well. I've also encountered php errors when trying to edit 'global' blocks.

Someone mentioned that the block will behave properly if it is created in a global scrapbook from within the scrapbook area in the dashboard. This seems to be true in my tests.

I used to create the block on a page (or a default page), then copy it to a global scrapbook. Creating it in the scrapbook initially seems to rectify the problem.

Still though, it is an issue.

Hello,

Very new to C5, and playing with version 5.4.1.1 (as shown in the upper-right corner of the Dashboard)

I'm experimenting the same sort of problems with items in a Global (shared ?) Scrapbook being not so global after all...

One funny thing : while doing tests with a simple content item, I've noticed that editing its text only is not enough to see the change reflected in all the places where it's used. BUT when I edit its DESIGN then the new content IS updated everywhere. Strange ?!

its the cache most likely, clearing the cache always fixes it for me

Thank you for the suggestion, it does seem to work :-)

Is there any place in the documentation where I could get sort a bird's eye view of cc5 ?

There is a wealth of detailed info on specific aspects, but I't be good to first have a general map of the land.
