Going Live...

I just finished my Main Page and am ready to go live, but can't work it out (website newbie). Hostmonster are my Hosts and their Live help just says he doesn't know the internals of Concrete 5 and signed off :(
Any advice?

I'm a bit puzzled about this post...

So are you moving from a local server (computer) to your hostmonster account?

I'm puzzled too as I'm new to all this. I downloaded C5 through the Simple Scripts link on my Hostmonster account. When I did this with Wordpress, my Blog went live rightaway, but I can't work out how to get my finished page to go live. Hostmonster tell me its a C5 issue and I need to "move sitebuilder into the main folder" but they don't know how, unfortunately this means nothing to me...
Can you walk me through it?
I would be eternally grateful.

I'm actually in this EXACT same circumstance. I am new to HostMonster, and in the DEMO they tell you to create your site in a subdirectory - but when I'm ready to publish and GO LIVE with my site, it doesn't talk about the process for doing that.

If you've installed in a subdirectory, going live usually involves moving all your files into the parent/root directory and optionally removing the subdirectory.

You should also review your config/site.php and make sure that your DIR_REL constant (if it's present) is set to '' or remove it entirely.

If you have decided to use pretty urls, then your .htaccess file needs to be updated too. *Assuming it's got nothing in it except the C5 code*, the best way is to delete it, and then login to your site using index.php/login (since /login will no longer work) and then go to your dashboard and then "save" the pretty url code again, which should have sorted itself out.

But what's the process for doing this? does it require me to start FTP moving files, or is their a function built into Concrete5? It seems that if the "intro" tutorial video demonstrates creating a directory - there should be a video that talks about "publishing" for going LIVE. I'm sure it's there - I'm just not finding it... yet.

I am not aware of a "publish" tool. You'll need to get your ftp client out. I'd recommend FileZilla if you don't have one.
