How do I get to the global area to make a change?

I am trying to make a very simple change: to update the year in my copyright notice in the footer. When I try to edit the footer in the home page, I get a message that warns me that the change will affect all pages. Yeah, I get that. But the edit form does not display the current content. Please see attachment.
MY BAD!
The text is white. That's why I couldn't see it until I highlighted the text area.
