How to edit the drop-down in a header

Hello,

I recently took over my organization's website management, so most of this is new to me. Everything was already built for me, and I'm just making changes as needed. I have zero experience with coding, so please keep that in mind.

I added a block of content to our site's "News" section. I can't figure out how to get this new block included in the "News" header on our site. Any advice?

Thank you in advance!

Hi NAPSA,

Just to clarify what your question is, are you trying to include a news entry in the site navigation drop down?

I've included a screenshot of what I think you are asking.

Yes - that is correct. I had thought (incorrectly) that by adding a block to the News section of the website, it would auto-fill in the drop down. Clearly that's not right, though, as the drop-down only includes SOME of the items in our News section.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

The news drop down menu includes these five sub-pages of "news.

It looks like the Exclude Subpages from Nav attribute is applied to the "news" page. What this does is prevent sub-pages of "news" from showing up in the navigation drop down. I believe those five pages are showing up because they have had the Exclude From Nav attribute removed. So if you want to include an additional news page in the drop down, you need to remove the Exclude From Nav attribute from it.

You would uncheck Exclude From Nav in Page Properties > Custom Attributes.

"Exclude Subpages from Nav
When installed, applied to a page and enabled, this attribute will effectively hide any pages beneath the current page. This is useful for excluding entire sections of subpages from only a particular navigation menu while keeping the parent page visible."

I don't have much experience with the version of concrete5 you are using. So if this doesn't help, I am sure someone more experienced will be able to help.

Thank you for giving this so much thought! It occurred to me that I wasn't using the subpages properly. With a little adjustment, it's working great now.

Thanks again.
