Inserting an email link

i want to put my email for people to contact me. how do i activate it?

Select the text you wish to make the link. Click the link icon and type in
mailto:yourname@youremailaddress.com

If my mailto: commands are not working properly, what could be the cause? These used to work properly, but for some reason, even after killing links and re-adding them, clicking on them does have an effect.
