Just to clear up, you want a popup when a user logs into their account that they have a message, when a person sent them a PM (private message) when they were logged out?

Yes.
i write a message to another user..
then i go offline..
the other user comes online and then he becomes the popup notification like this site here.. (concrete5.org)

I am really curious what others will say about this, and if there currently is something. Honestly I will do a check at login (simple code and db calls) that will see if they have a message (simple db read) and pop it up with javascript that would be a "href" to their account (simple javascript). If you want code/files to help you with this let me know for more info, but I am curious if there is already something...

I'd also like to achieve this.

The private message popup notification is really good on the concrete5 site. Is there a way to replicate this with user profiles + private messaging?

Or maybe a notification area in the header displaying number of unread messages?

I'd be interested to see if anyone has done this / has the know-how to achieve this...?

I completed this but he stopped emailing me. Its completed just have to submit to concrete. I will try to do it this weekend if serious
