Migrating from one site to C5

I am about to build a C5 site on a subdomain to get it all built and working correctly, then I will move the DNS from the current host to my C5 site.
What pitfalls should I expect? Will i need to change the database at all? Will the URLs be an issue?
If I build the site as site.domain.com and then point a DNS entry to that ashttp://www.domain.com will it break?

of course, you want to be careful about absolute links and whatnot..
