Missing Dashboard - Missing Edit Bar

I'm a newbie to Concrete5, just installed it and clicked on one of the main videos from the first large pop-up window that comes up immediately after installation. After viewing ONE video and using the back button, I was returned to the "website" but without any ability to see or find the DASHBOARD or EDIT BAR. (I have Concrete5 installed on my local computer under XAMPP). I see that many people have had this exact problem in looking through the forum, though for various reasons looks like. I checked to make sure I have the latest Java installed and I do. Any ideas? Obviously I can't do anything with this CMS unless I can edit something.

Thanks,

hello,
which version of concrete5 did you install?

If you go tohttp://localhost/index.php/dashboard... do you get taken to the dashboard?

If you are taken to the login page are you able to login?
If so - what do you see?

Again, after troubleshooting more, I discovered my problem was simply that I had not logged in. I thought that was automatic at that point because I had just installed and had FULL access, but the system must have automatically signed me out. Anyway, I will probably have to re-install because the log-in is not accepting the username and password I thought I had entered on the installation configuration page. One step at a time, but I think some of the documentation is lacking.

At installation, you specify an email and password for the administrator. But the username is always 'admin' and you will need to use that next time you login.

After a fresh install, I usually go straight to the dashboard list users page, then edit the admin user to have my usual username.
