missing sitemap pages

trying to restore tracking reports on a site running 5.4.2.2 built by a former employee....
I login as admin. the only admin shown in the user list. I go to dashboard full sitemap and show system files. I still am missing the settings page. is there a super admin missing from the userlist? how do I regain full controle of the site? several things need attention.
TIA!!

I would recommend connecting directly to the database with PhpMyAdmin and make sure there are not any users you don't know about. Especially in the case of a 'former employee' I would want to make sure they cannot access the site.

What page specifically don't you see?

Is it /dashboard/system (System & Settings) ?

Are you logging in as the actual admin user, or a user given admin rights?

logging in as admin

i saw the users in the database...

and yes
systems settings are missing

i'm thinking his patching "under the hood" in concrete
has caused most of the issues.

eventually the entire site needs to be redone...
but without loosing its ranking

i put the latest [5.7] on the server yesterday
and have started the learning curve

thankyou!!

I would recommend getting it all going at 5.6.3.2.

5.7 is new and improved, but currently there is no direct upgrade path.

Personally I run three 5.6.3.2 sites, plus have a test 5.6 and 5.7 environment.

5.7 will be a great platform, however the developer community is not there yet, thus there are not too many themes/addins just yet.
