after upgrading my site the music block doest work. the add file button in the when trying to add the track to the music player doest open the file manager?

also the file manager wont upload mp3 files it uploads gets to the end but does not show the file.

the solution to upload trouble was to ftp my files into a folder and then add remote file > type in the http location and it worked... maybe i have an issue with my file manger?

The file api changed quite a bit and I therefore had to rewrite a few lines of it..

The version in the marketplace worked the last time I've tested it. Sure you're using the latest version?

When did you install it?

i just updated last night and then also re downloaded and installed the music plugin so new versions of both still not sure why i cant load mp3 files through the file browser and why i cant load them in the music player.

i did notice when i click the load file in the music block its like its a short cut which makes the backf=ground page move up.

so if i scroll down then add the music block whne i lcick load file my background moved back to pop and it adds a hash symbol in the address bar?

I'm having a similar problem.
I removed the old music block via the add functionality menu. Then I went to the Marketplace and downloaded the music block. When removing the music block it simply replaced it on the right as something to activate. So when I came back to the add functionality menu I wasn't sure if the music player shown was the old one or the new one.

So..... I deleted the music file(s) from the blocks folder in concrete 5. Then went and got the new music block again but I have the same problem.

When I try to add the block to a page it goes to the usual screen asking for dimensions and to add files. When you click on add files nothing happens.
Also, if you just go ahead and add it with no file it does not appear on the page. Instead it says "please install the flash player".

Hmmm...
In order to load the mp3s a month ago, I had to rewrite the ini.php (i think that's it) file to increase the max upload but the files are already in so I assume it's not that.

Hmmm...
Any help would be great. I've got a deadline tomorrow that utilize this block. I'm sure there is a solution.
Hmmm...

Thank You!

There was a change in 5.3.1 too..

I thought you didn't update because the file api change in 5.3 broke the block..

Looks like swfobject isn't included by default anymore. The block has to include it on its own which it did but now does.

Please try updating the block!

So I tried via the save for later feauture but it doesn't show up when I try to add from marketplace in page edit mode.
I'm gonna install it old school and see what happens.
Multi-tasking a few things at the moment. I will post results a.s.a.p.
Thanks

Thanks Remo for updating the block.

I can't seem to install anything. I tried installing a different block and couldn't do that either. I installed the iframe block the other day with no problem so... yeah something's off on my side. Obviously my heads not on straight. I have an inferior but doable back up for my deadline today. I will have to update the music block in a few days.
Thanks. I will post here when I get back to installing the music block and hopefully succeed.

i had one person report that the package showed up in their add-on list but there was no install button in IE.. was in firefox.. perhaps that will help?

I think there was an out of date version of the music player up in the marketplace at one point recently, so maybe you got that.

it's probably the safest way to update the package manually.

download the music.zip from concrete5.org and extract it to the "packages" directory within the root of your c5 site..

OK. So I'm using an alternate, non C5 music player at the moment, but i really really want to use the C5 player. Not to mention, I'll need other blocks in the future so once I learn this lesson I'll be all the better.

I put the music zip into the packages folder and unzipped it there.
Now when I go to the dashboard and try to enter the Add functionality menu, it does not display and gives me this message "Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class MusicPackage in /home7/laconicm/public_html/concrete5/blocks/music/controller.php on line 30"

What have I done? As of writing this I deleted music from the packages folder and the add functionality menu works again.

I tried this a few times. I did notice at one point that there was a music folder installed in the main c5 folder, the root I guess, so I think I must have dropped it in there by accident in one of my previous hasty attempts to install. I deleted that.
Does the error message above tell you what I did to cause this difficulty?
Is there some other file that is interfering now, making it seem like there's already a music block installed?
Hmmm...
Once again, I appreciate the help. Hopefully others can learn from my mistakes. :)

Am I gonna have to revert to the backup I had before installing 5.3.1.1? That would be real unfortunate but manageable if I really had to.

Oh yeah, and I'm using firefox.

It looks like it's to do with controller.php.

Could you please download the controller.php file thats mentioned in the error and post it here?

Otherwise, I'd say that the easiest way to use the music block is to restore the backup you were talking about, and upgrade to 5.3.2 and then reinstall the music block. It might work; it mightn't either.

Edit: Just some advice: I'd reccommend using an FTP program. A firefox addon I'd recommend would be FireFTP. Otherwise, I'd use filezilla. Avoid using your control panels file manager, if you can.
