new page pretty links not working

Permalink 1 user found helpful
I have recently installed c5.

I am having problems with only some of the new pages i add.
Some of these pages do not work with the pretty links (regular cid=59 type links still work)
I just get a totally blank page.

other pages i have created are working ok.

perhaps I am creating these pages incorrectly somehow?
any tips?

i have tried adding more pages and and sub pages i make do not work.

the pretty url link always ends up as a blank page.

you can go here to see the problem,

http://youtraveltools.com/index.php/tools/...

click on the links in the left menu called johntest, test2 or third test

sorry to anyone that goes to this link after it is fixed.

Doesn't look like a pretty url issue.
As it doesn't go to a pretty URL. index.php still exists in the URL.

The reason why this is happening. Published those pages?

It appears to go wrong as soon as you use subpages on subpages of home.

i did not even notice that.

even the first level pages are not pretty urls.

by publish, if you mean clicking the publish my edits button after i edit the page, then yes, i have done that several times

now i have 2 questions.
how do i fix this
and
how do i enable proper pretty urls

I wonder if it is related to another problem I am having.
my server has a setting stuck on (they are investigating)
the show directory listing is stuck, and I cannot disable it.
this means that .htaccess changes only affect the root folder.

Pretty much every thing you enter behind tools/ will result in a blank page.
Do you use the auto navigation block or manual links?
Can you reach them through the ?cID= way?
The URL you will see in the address bar when editing.

I see it XD.
Damn so obvious. tools/ is a predefined URL used to load scripts like the updater in Concrete. Call it just anything else and it will work. Click on properties -> Page paths and location -> change the URL that is entered there.

yes i found out if i added to another top level item it worked ok.

i jumped the gun and tried to delete tools folder , now the sub pages are orphaned and I cannot delete them. i get a fatal error.

thanks for you help Maynar, but i was too trigger happy, although i have now got it working, i have a messy sitemap with extra pages that I cannot remove.

any ideas how i can clean this up?

now the orphaned files have vanished...

?

seems like i have to be careful and reload, recheck, re-save , re-publish everything twice before i test it.

I'm not sure what the hell you did, but seems like you deleted the tools page (might have an folder icon). If you did, all subpages are deleted as well. That's a part of that function. Can't be undone.
