Random Block

Hi I've been searching but all I find is stuff for 5.7 and I know how to do it in 5.7 :-)

In 5.6 site I was using a plugin Randomizer to randomply display a scrapbook (later stacks).

Anyhow 5.8 site - I want to do the same thing and I suspect it is easy, but I can't seem to find how to display a random stack item into a block on a page.

Help!!

What code do you use for 5.7 that doesn't work in 5.8? The cores for those two are very similar and most code works for both.

Sorry I meant 5.6 vs 5.8 (or 5.7)

I was using the randomizer block in 5.6

I can probably create a block for you for this, do you just need the ability to add x number of blocks from a chosen stack to a page? The Randomizer package has several functions but just the stack wouldn't be that hard to create a block for.

Hi thanks much - I'm not looking for anyone to create a block for me - but I appreciate the offer. I want to be able to do the same thing I did in Concrete 5.6 - which is have a scrapbook or set of stacks that I can have a block that randomly picks from that set and displays it online.

There are a number of plugins that do this in 5.6 - Randomizer being one of them that I've used quite a bit - in 5.7+ I searched and maybe I used the wrong term, but I didn't find any blocks. That led me to assume it was probably a native functionality of 5.7+ - but if so I can't seem to find it.

Thoughts?

No, this is not built in functionality in 5.7+, it's just that nobody has created a package to do this.

Thanks for confirming. Wow kinda surprising - as it was one of the most useful blocks I had seen.

Are you thinking of making a block yourself?

I have no use for the block myself, but I was offering to make one for you if you wanted it.

You could ask in support if this one works on 8.1:

Found the Infinity Stack and that seems to do the trick. Thanks.
