Upgrade to 5.5.1 makes edit bar blank and stops addons being installed

Hi,
I can't find on the forums anyone with exactly this problem. I updated C5 to the latest version and the Edit bar goes blank only on pages where there were products displayed in blocks. The other info pages have the full bar contents so I can edit and go to the dashboard.

I figured it may require CoreCommerce updating and I get the message one add-on update is available (but it doesn't say which one!). So I try to install the update and get this fatal error message:

Update Add-Ons

Fatal error: Class 'MarketplaceRemoteItem' not found in /var/www/vhosts/artisans.co.uk/httpdocs/updates/concrete5.5.1/concrete/single_pages/dashboard/extend/update.php on line 43

I checked PHP Core on my server and allow_url_fopen is switched on in both Local Value and Master Value but allow_call_time_pass_reference is switched off. Do I need to switch the latter on in in Shell? It was all working fine in the previous version 5.4.2.2

I seem to be in a catch 22 situation so all help & advice gratefully received!

Hi, I'm having similar problems (5.5), on some but not all of my (sub) pages, the edit mode/dashboard drop-down doesn't appear OR disappears. I don't have products/e-commerce but the problem seems to be similar.

I've been looking too, I'm sure you've already seen this, but in case... here's a thread about code/theme (customized):

(Edit Bar Missing On Site)

Someone responded to my question, and mentioned about possible conflicts with an add-on (add-ons). I tried that, but I'm still in the same situation. I wasn't going to upgrade, .... waited until it was out of beta, like it but I guess there are always a few kinks. Karen

Hi Karen,

Thanks for that link. Unfortunately I'd already made sure the header and footer code was in the php files, which didn't surprise me as the edit bar was working perfectly right up to the point when I installed the new 5.5 update.

I have a feeling it is something to do with the Core Commerce add-on but as I also now cannot connect to the community from the dashboard I can't see if there's been an update to that!

I love C5 and think the new version is excellent so am sure a fix will be brewing somewhere!

Good luck with yours :)
Nick

Back when 5.5 came out I had this problem with the eCommerce add-on as the "View Cart was on most every page and was causing the problem. The eCommerce add-on has been since updated, but if you have add-on's in the site that you transferred over that contain JS you may want to look at them as a culprit.

Oh and by the way, found that Miser fixed the Edit Bar at the time and allowed me to move around until I found the problem. Guess Miser was putting the JS where it needed to be.

Thanks for that - it really helps to have confirmation of the suspected cause. Now all I have to do is find a way of overcoming this problem with connecting to the Marketplace so I can update the eCommerce add-on. I click connect or update or add and it tells me I am already connected to the Marketplace. Duuuhhhh...!

Nick
