After Installation
Once Concrete5 is installed, you should be logged in as the admin user, with full access to customize your new site. Here are some things you might want to do:
- Add a new page. This page should automatically show up in navigation around the site.
- Edit the image on the home page.
- Edit the text in the main content area or the sidebar.
- Move some content around.
- Add a new form using the form block.
- Acquaint yourself with the tools available in the dashboard, including sitemap, statistics, and themes.
- Investigate some of the available themes in the dashboard.
- Let us know that you're working with Concrete!

Yeah, something to mention here. After concrete is installed, isn't it wise to chmod everything to 775 and then chmod the top level files directory to 777?

Yeah - this is a good point, especially with the config/ directory. Although you'll want to make sure your packages/ directory is writable by the web server (unless you're running PHP as a CGI, in which case you shouldn't have to worry about setting any of these permissions at all) if you want to install apps and themes directly from our marketplace.

Quote: Add a new page. This page should automatically show up in navigation around the site.Unquote.Nope, this doesn't happen. I just installed this today, and I am having a play with it for a neighbour. I like the idea, but added a contact page, and it does not work on the link. I have spent ages looking but cannot work out how to link it. Any help here?

hrm. it probably depends on where you're adding the page and which navigation you're looking at. take a look at some of these screencasts:
