Posted by Cravener on
1. Go to Dashboard.
2. Click "Users and Groups".
3. Click on your user name in the list of users.
4. Click "Edit User".
5. Enter new password in the specified field and again for confirmation.
6. Click "Update User".

=) It's all.

I cant log into my site anymore. I click on sign in to edit this site and it is not accepting my email and password. When I went to reset it says We have no record of that email address.

If you've forgotten your password and you can't remember the email address you used to make the concrete5 install, you can get access by looking at the tables in the database. Look for the users table, the first row in that table is your admin account and you should be able to see the admin's email there.

If that email address isn't something you can get email at, or the site isn't sending out emails, there's still a way to get in. Request a new password using the email that concrete5 has in the users table for the admin account. Then go look in the logs table. A copy of the email concrete5 tried to send should be in there, along with a reset password link you can use to set a new password.

Every time I log out, and come back to log in the user or password message error is shown. I have to request it through the email, and when it resets it works, but when log out and try to log in again it does not work anymore.

Any advice?

sounds like you might not be changing it to what you think you are?

the link coming to you should be a link to reset your password, not an actual password. If its an actual password you're using a very old version of concrete5.

at the top right, there a test page or whatever. how can i remove that?

Now this maybe sounds stupid, but how on earth do you use the right URL to get to the backend of your web site ? Mine is: www.eyeframe.nl/
After the slash there should be something like admin or dashboard, but this does not get accepted in the browser. I locked the site due to maintenance %-/

sitename.com/index.php/dashboard should work

Ok I'm new to making websites but I would like to make one where people can register and sign in. How would i do that?

I got rid of the "My Site" text on the top left the other day, but now it's back. I tried getting rid of it via the Dashboard>Scrapbooks feature, and through clearing the cache. That worked the other day, doesn't today.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of it (and keep it gone)?

are you by any chance hosting somewhere that let you install concrete5 with simplescripts? (like hostmonster or bluehost)

yes, my host is Bluehost

sorry about the double-post there.

Dunno if this is relevant, but I tried to reload an earlier version, but when that reloaded it had 'My Site' added to it too.

Thanks in advance for any help

@JHS - how did you remove it? By editing concrete/elements/header_required.php directly?
Posted by JHS on
this might sound dumb, but I don't recall exactly what I did the other day. I tried a lot of things to get rid of it, and when it finally worked (my messing around in the scrapbook and then emptying the cache) I didn't give it any more thought.

Tried the same range of things today and nothing worked, though.

If installing via Simplescripts is a problem, would it be possible/worth it to uninstall and then reinstall directly from the concrete5 site? (I've barely got anything on my page so far anyway)

Any resolution to this? I'm trying to remove the "My Site" too and am eager to hear the solution.

I think it might actually be dependent on the theme you're using.. some look to the global scrapbook, some just look to the site name property...

oh help, please help, this is driving me mad, i have now lost my website for the second time! I have loaded c5 with bluehost (who are not being helpful) and i just can't get it working right at all. None of the edit text functions work properly. I have posted a 'bug' comment and another one under 'editing' section (both of these have emails with screenshots as a pdf to download), and i have emailed help, but no joy yet. Can anyone help? I have tried everything i can think of, including swapping to firefox but no joy there either!
Thanks in advance
Sarah

I thought this was site builder software - is it more of a note pad, and you are supposed to use html instead?
