Parent calendar & Past Events

Hi there,
I have installed the calendar plugin and I cannot seem to get a few things to work.
Parent Calendar...
I have several calendars on sub pages, each containing a different category of events. I would like the parent page to have a calendar of all of the events within those separate calendars. However I only get the option to show the events from the parent page, and none of the others. Even when I tick everything as a "featured event" it will not show up on the calendar.
Past Events...
I have a full list on each of these pages, I need for past events to be removed from these lists automatically.
Help would be appreciated :)

Do you have your calendar set up differently somehow?
