I needed a plugin to allow the client to simply embed YouTube & Vimeo videos into their news pages via CKEditor. Thiā€¦

Did you know that Concrete5's WYSIWYG content editor was extendable with hundreds of free plugins?

PHP 8 ready!

Did you always wish you could add a video directly to your content without having to use a video block?

How about a Google map or a chart, or Bootstrap tabs?

And those are just a few examples.

Why would I want to do that?

Say you write content, a blog maybe, or commercial texts. And you need to add multimedia content to your text: videos, audio files, charts, maps...

Right now your only solution is to add a content block for your text then another block for your video, then another content block for more text, then another block for some other content... you get the picture.

Luckily, there's finally a better way thanks to this plugin installer and CKeditor's huge library of free plugins to enhance your editor with all kinds of extra content types.

Where can I use all that goodness?

You'll have access to all that anywhere you have one of Concrete5's content editor.

Are you using one of the markets blog packages? It will work there. Are you using Community Store for e-commerce? Are you using Concrete5's Composer to simplify page creation?

No problem. As long as you have a content editor you'll have access to the plugins you installed in your editor.

Sounds complicated. How does it work?

CKeditor Pluginator now allows you to take advantage of a world of possibilities in the easiest possible way:

  1. Download the plugin you want from CKeditor's website
  2. Use this tool to upload and install it in your editor
  3. That's it, no third step :)

You don't even need to install extra blocks or anything like that. It all works with Concrete5's normal content editor. The same one that's used everywhere.

Need more convincing? How about you

But simplicity doesn't mean "nothing under the hood" and this package offers plenty of options and helpers.

For instance, you can limit the use of each plugin to selected user groups only if you want to.

You can also count on the package to do all the thinking for you. For each plugin you install it will tell you automatically:

  • What other plugins (dependencies) you need to install for this plugin to work
  • Where to find them
  • How to fix a broken install with a single click

And if that's not enough, you also have access to a step-by-step walk-through to learn how to easily install your first plugin.

I took every possible step to make the experience of using this CKeditor Plugin Installer as easy and seamless as possible.
