Cu3er Slideshow

This add-on is compatible with Concrete 5.5.

*** If you like this add-on, check out our other add-ons at: http://c5extras.com/add-ons/ ***

The Cu3er block allows you to select images individually from the File Manager or a File Set to produce a visually impacting Flash-based slideshow. Animation settings can be controlled on a granular image-by-image basis for maximum flexibility.

You can view a live example here.

A few key features:

  • Add individual images to the slideshow (from the File Manager) with granular control over animations.
  • Or simply select a File Set and default transition options for a quick animation.
  • Selection of a "fallback" banner image (from the File Manager) when the user does not have Flash installed - much better than a "download Flash now" button.
  • Hide navigation buttons if desired.
  • Supports multiple Cu3er blocks on the same page.
  • Advanced users can tweak the XML configuration file to fine-tune the functionality and appearance.

How it works:

The block generates XML data as the block is created/edited (and saved into the db). This XML data stores configuration info about the Cu3er animation. The config XML data is based on several XML template files called "configTemplate.xml", "buttonTemplate.xml" and "descriptionTemplate.xml", so if you know Cu3er well and want to fine-tune it, simply edit this file as required.

You can find the fully doco at:

http://www.progressivered.com/cu3er/docs/

Origins:

Cu3er an image slider initially conceived to create 3D transitions between slides, turned out to be a convenient and multifunction solution that can be applied in a range of website building areas, from content slider to feature slider and image & banner rotator. Consider using it when you want to grab the user’s attention, and you’ll be delighted by the results!

Update log:

1.1.6 - Add support for linking the text overlay
1.1.5 - Improved support for fallback image.
1.1.4 - Removed need to read external XML file when saving slideshow to prevent errors when server didn't allow 'file_get_contents' function.
1.1.1 - Bug fix affecting use of file sets (rather than individual images).
1.1.0 - Changed XML storage method from separate file to C5 database.  Added support to hide navigation buttons. Changed cube colour code to regular hex format.

Upgrade Note:

If you downloaded a version earlier than 1.1.0 and are upgrading your package, you will need to edit and re-save each Cu3er block. The latest version now saves configuration data in the database rather than a separate XML file.

This add-on has been translated to French, thanks to Cali. French users, please note, we are unable to provide support in French.
