Quality and size

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Thanks for this!
Just having two issues with it.

1. When using lightbox, the "full image" is not 100% of the image, when using bigger images it automatically crops it, how do i disable the cropping on the full image? I just want the it to show the original size as uploaded.

2. Why does the full image loose quality, How may i make 100% quality as uploaded?

Thanks!

Hi.

1) You can turn off cropping by unchecking the "Enable Cropping" box at the top-left of the edit window (when adding/editing the block). When cropping is turned off, images will be resized instead.

2) The full image is run through Concrete5's built-in thumbnailing function. If you want, I can give you some code that will alter the functionality so it never changes the quality or size of the full-sized images. But this will affect every block on your site (so if you have some that you do want resized and others you don't, this won't be a good solution).

What I can also do is upgrade the block to allow for this option, but I won't have time to do so for another week or two -- so let me know what your situation is (like if the above solution is acceptable, or if it's not then what your deadline is for getting this functionality in there).

Thanks.

1. I want the thumbnail to crop, not the full image.

2. Okey, seems a bit strange when all the other galleries I tried have perfect quality, I found a option in the file in the helper folder that the quality is set to 80 but it have no effect when changing it?

Thanks

1) The full-size images are never cropped -- they are only resized. If it looks like they're getting cropped then something weird is going on with the css styles probably. If so, can you please send me a link to the page they're on, and a link to the original images (which can be found by going to the image in the file manager, clicking on it and choosing "properties" from the popup menu -- the URL is in the "URL to File" box)?

2) Some galleries may not try to reduce the size of the image at all -- in which case the quality wouldn't be affected. But for most people who use this gallery, they want their full-size images to be restricted to a certain width and height (especially when setting up sites for clients who don't know how to resize images before uploading them from their cameras).

I'm attaching a file that you can use if you want perfect quality images in this gallery, but note that it will apply to every deluxe image gallery on your site (you can't turn it on or off for different deluxe image gallery blocks). Also note that the "Zoomed Width" and "Zoomed Height" boxes in the add/edit window will have no effect -- it will be completely ignored as the full-size image will always be shown at its full size.
To use this file, download the attachment and unzip it, then place that file (should be called "controller.php") in a new directory you will create on your server:
YOURSITE/blocks/deluxe_image_gallery/

Let me know if you run into any problems with this or have any other questions.

This thread is kind of old, and I wouldn't be surprised if the attachment up above isn't compatible with the latest version of Deluxe Image Gallery. Also note that this hack is not necessary in more recent versions of the addon because I included this feature that gives you the full image quality without resorting to hacks -- just leave the "Zoomed Width" and "Zoomed Height" boxes empty (or 0), and they will not be resized or modified from the original image files at all.

See the docs page here for a full list of the "advanced options" now available:
