How to add a ShareThis block

Once you’ve followed the “How to install” section, you’ve already installed and configured this Add-On. That’s great. Now you’re ready to go and add a block to a page (be it a normal area or a global area).

Go to the page/area you want the block added to. Make sure you’re logged in! Now click the “+” sign at the top left and search for “ShareThis”. You can recognize the block for the 3 dots connected with a line on a green-ish background (the ShareThis logo). Drag it to the area you want it to. Now a popup appeared, where you can select your style. The available styles are:

  • Buttons
  • Horizontal Counters
  • Vertical Counters

Only once one of these is chosen, you can select your services (this will animate into your screen). On the left you have the selected services. Default, there are already the most popular ones selected, so you can go ahead and add others by dragging them over from the right into the position you want on the left. Once selected, you can also reorder within the “Selected Services” section. Just click and drag the service to the position you like. Go ahead, try it!

Add a service (bulk/fast)

If you don’t want to drag, just click the green plug ( “+”) sign on the right of the service name. This will add it to the top of selected services. Again, if you want to reorder, just drag and drop. Adding the services using the plus sign, will make bulk adding a whole lot faster (compared to dragging). Up to you what method you use.

Delete a service

Once you think a selected service should be removed, just click the red “x” sign and it will be added on top of the section where it should be (either “Sharing Buttons” or “Other Social Plugins”).

Settings (override)

In the “Settings” tab, you can override main settings for the button size and display text. Only use these options if absolutely necessary, as the main settings will make sure your buttons will be the same on each and every page (if not used in a global area that is).

User Names

In the “User Names” tab, you can override main settings for the user names. Again: Only use these options if absolutely necessary, as the main settings will make sure your buttons will have the same accounts each and every page (if not used in a global area that is). If a field is greyed out here (disabled), that means you haven’t got this service in the “Selected Services” section. So there is no need to override anything at all. Once you move a service into this section, the field will become available/enabled again.

Properties

We advise you to implement Open Graph Tags on pages instead of specifying a different title, summary and/or image in this tab. You could use Devoda SEO to do that, or ask a/your developer to implement such a thing in your concrete5 website.
