excellent, tested over time

Easy to install and configure for use, especially as you do not need to edit any forms that are using captcha already and no styles are required (it completely hides the captcha). We first used this with a client who was getting a lot of spam with regular captcha but hasn't had any since and it's been 6+ months. Using it now on all our sites, thank you!

Not entirely obvious that you need to find the Captcha settings page (which you may not even know exists!).

Creator disappeared, spam is back in full force

If anyone gets this to work again, please fork the original or something and give better documentation as well. I'm not sure why this was approved with only a single screenshot that is just barely decipherable.

Some people who used this thought they WEREN'T supposed to use the CAPTCHA setting in their form since it displays a broken message to "fill in the words below" and some people concluded that they should write some CSS rules to hide that message using "!important" to make sure it overrides the CSS.

So, the CAPTCHA is either not there or there and broken, depending on if you have it on or off. In any case, someone figured out how to exploit this add-on. Getting 75 spam messages a day now... so it is useless even if it was originally quite useful.

Love, love, love this addon!

Ten stars for sure. I love the clean look of a form without the captcha. I don't mess with commenting out code in the root file.

Simply write a css rule for the appropriate rule --
label.control-label{display: none; }

This works great. I run this little gem on all my sites with forms. I have yet to run into the automated spam.
Please, please, please keep it free! Excellent work!

This is perfect

Very nice add-on. This should be a standard feature. It improves user experience. Need more instructions on how to implement it. I found the instructions in another's user comments rather than in the official documentation section. But everything works well.

Just works

I use this on a few sites and it works great. Removes most form spam, and doesn't inconvenience the user. Haven't had any complaints about legitimate enquiries getting blocked.

A solid alternative to the default CAPTCHA that I install by default for new sites.

Should be in the core

Brilliant add-on - This is by far the most accessible and user friendly method of adding a captcha to a form. Thanks for making it a freebie!

Whenever I need to use forms on my site I automatically grab this add-on. Not problems ever and very user friendly. Thank you for making this captcha - no other coding required and spam gone!

Works perfectly, could be included by default

I installed this, changes the Captcha to Honeypot in the Captcha settings on the form and all spam completely stopped.

There is no downside to this addon.

Great CAPTCHA alternative

I installed this on my personal website and I didn't have any code to alter to make it work properly in forms.

I think I'll be using this on a regular basis.

I love honey! Really good captcha replacement.

We us the captcha method since several year's with great success. I was glad to found now an add-on for concrete5. That's really cool! And really userfriendly!

Thanks for giving this away for free!

Perhaps a small documentation how to activiate could help. Like @ThorstenKelsch did in his review.

A bit fumbling around, but actually easy to use

At first I did not know how to configure this, but it’s easy actually. In the Dashboard, you open System and Settings, then click on Captcha Control. There is a listbox where you can change from the default Captcha to the Honeypot.

In your contact form block, of course you have to enable the Captcha functionality. Unfortunately, under the form there still appeared a line from the original Captcha, reading: Please type the letters and numbers shown in the image.

I had to comment out this line in the source code of the form block, in controller.php, line 626. I’m not sure if it has something to do with the fact that I have a configured copy of the original form block in /blocks/form, which overrides the original /concrete/form/block.

Anyway, if this Honeypot works, it’s a good and useful add-on. For I hate those ugly Captchas with their sometimes unreadable signs, and most user will feel the same about it.

Well, I’m waiting now for the spam commenters to see if this add-on works fine. I give five stars already, because I believe it will work all right. All the other add-ons from the same author which I have in use work great.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting this info, it helped me get it sorted.

Just curious though, I have a similar problem, the text that is inserted by Honeypot "full name" is hidden but the text area box is visible?

I'm having trouble making it disappear without making the rest of the form text areas disappear along with it.

You can see it here:

Thank you in advance if you're able to assist with this.

Just real nice add-on. User friendly forms for my website with Honeypot add-on, no Captcha needed anymore. Great! 10 stars.
