Possible to add Users to a group for free with an expiry date

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi, I'm looking to purchase the addon. Mainly I'll be using it for people to buy a 1 year membership.

However, I have some users that have already made a payment for a 1 year membership. Will it be possible for me to add these users to a group and have their membership expire automatically in a year's time?

In order words, I suppose this is the same as giving them a year's free membership now but using your addon. Possible?

Many thanks,
Mike

Yes. Once the products are set up you can manually add users to them without making them go through the payment process.

Note that if your subscription is for one year then when you add them the year starts on that day. But this sounds to be what you want.

If you have my importer addon you can do this in bulk and also set the "effective date".

Hi James,

I've made the purchase and it has all gone through but I don't see the addon in my licenses. Any ideas?

Cheers,
Mike

Hi James,

I absolutely love the addon it is working perfectly for me! I'll leave a glowing review shortly :)

I can't figure out how to add a member to a product for free. Do I just add them to the User Group and the Maintainer job does the rest? Or have I missed something?

Many thanks,
Mike

Don't add them to the group. The maintainer won't know about it.

The transactions section in the admin should have a button to add transaction manually. Just use that. You can enter the real price as it doesn't do any actual billing, but if you're also using the transactions for accounting then you might want to use $0 and click the "don't validate" checkbox.

Aha thank you! It's called 'New Transaction'. I didn't try that simply because it sounded like it would divert to Paypal, my bad.

In the transactions area and in the New Transaction button popup it shows a dollar sign against all transactions but I'm operating in GBP pounds sterling. All has gone fine so far so I'll assume that I shouldn't concern about the dollar sign showing in that area.

Thanks again. Very happy with the addon.

Correct. The dollar signs are hardcoded. Considering that, other than the redirect to PayPal, the currency doesn't really matter, you should be fine.

Only problem would be if you're mixing currencies and doing accounting, or something.
