Will Magic Tipple work with versions of Concrete5 before 5.6.1?

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Following an enquiry about version compatibility, I am posting some notes here.

As it states on the Marketplace page, Magic Tipple is tested to work with concrete5 versions 5.6.1+, so if your site is 5.6.1, 5.6.1.1, 5.6.1.2, 5.6.2, 5.6.2.1, then Magic Tipple should work with no problems. In the remote chance there are problems, I will provide support and solutions.

Before c5.6.1, Magic Tipple has not been tested and may either not work at all, work with reservations, or in a worst case break your site. I cannot guarantee or support Magic Tipple on versions of concrete5 before 5.6.1.

My best advice for a way round this is to upgrade to the latest version of c5 (taking a backup first of course). If other addons on your site preclude updating and you want to use Magic Tipple, here is my best guess:

** For c5 versions 5.6.0.2+ - There is a good chance Magic Tipple will work, but has not been tested to do so. It is unlikely to break your site.

** For c5 versions 5.6+ - It should work with reservations - you should avoid any of the bootstrap templates, or modify the block controller to load ccm.app.js where it currently loads bootstrap.js. It is unlikely to break your site as long as you take note of the points about Magic Tipple's bootstrap based templates.

** For c5 versions 5.5 to 5.5.2 - The dashboard page is unlikely to work. You may be able to use the actual Magic Tipple block without the global functionality provided from the dashboard page. As with 5.6, you should avoid any of the bootstrap templates, or modify the block controller to load ccm.app.js where it currently loads bootstrap.js

** Before c5.5 - It will not work and may well break your site.

If the above means nothing to you, do not risk it. If you are a developer and understand what I have written, you will also understand the likelihood of success.

As I noted above, I cannot guarantee or support Magic Tipple on versions of concrete5 before 5.6.1
