How to enter an external link for an image?

How do I type a link for an image? I only see how to choose a page in my site, but sometimes need to link to another site.

This is a feature I'm implementing the plugin shortly. unfortunately I can not give a date for the release of this novelty.
How is the development on this going? I'd love to be able to link to external links without having to create an external link page for each image. :)
Is there an ETA yet for the external link feature yet? Would love to use this plugin, but must have external link capabilities first...

I need this feature too.
I will develop a system that will search for a attribute 'link' into the file. If founded the image will redirect to these url. Is it ok for you?

Hi Seb,
this is surely ok as a temporary solution and I would appreciate it very much.
But it would be fine, if you could integrate that feature into the options interface in the next version.
