Can't figure out how checkboxes work

Hi,
I'm trying to use yours block to make a checkboxes based search for one of my sites, but i can't figure out how they work. i've added a new "page-list +" block and setted the search section in the following way:

- Use for Search
- Show Search Form
- Show Search Filters
- Show the attribute name as a filter title
- Show select attributes as checkboxes (i've selected one particular attribute on the beneath list)

But no checkbox appears on the front end view.. can you please help me to make it work?

You'll also need to check the corresponding Attribute on the 'Filters' tab and set it one of the last 3 options: 'matching search value'.
