This Add-On works with concrete5 version 5.7.3.1 and higher (so 8.x included)!

Page Speed Checker is all about measuring the performance of your concrete5 webpages for mobile devices and desktop devices.

A page speed score ranges from 0 to 100 points. Of course, the higher you have to better. Everything above approximately 85 is a good performing page. But you can always try to get a better score by following the advices shown on the report.

Each page (or webpage URL) you analyze, will be saved. So you can get a full report if you check weekly or monthly. See what’s wrong, make changes (or let someone make changes for you) and analyze again. No more guessing what scores you had by visiting Google PageSpeed Insights directly. This Add-On does use PageSpeed Insights behind the screens, but it saves you a whole trouble of logging everything.

Click a report of a page and see both mobile and desktop score in a blink, for all the analyzes you ever did. With a little icon behind each score if the score went up/down (or stayed the same), you can easily spot differences for that specific page. Report back to your developer if he said he’d fixed stuff for you, but the score hasn’t changed. No more cheating by your developers!

But this isn’t a tool to use to hit your developer on his fingers. It’s meant to be a tool that can give you complete insight and a complete history. See what changes did work or what changes did not work. The history even got screenshots in it, so you can actually see what’s shown to the user (everything above the “fold”). Not a very detailed image, but in a scenario where it’s not returning anything or giving a 404, you can actually spot that.

Sort your reports by mobile score, desktop score, or even by date. That way you can first take a look at the poor performing pages, to get that score up quickly. The higher the score, the most likely for your page to be higher in the search engine results (read: Google, Bing et cetera). Get your pages above your competitors and get more sales/exposure. It’s quite vital to get your scores out of the red zone, sometimes you may not even be indexed because of it.

Page Speed Checker is all about reports/analyzes. It won’t fix pages for you. You’d have to follow the advice given by Google, contact your developer, contact some other developer if the current one doesn’t know what he/she has to do or simply do nothing and just have an awesome reporting of your scores. Up to you!

This Add-On works perfect in combination with “Awesome Dashboard” too (see screenshot).

Get to know your scores and get higher in Google and other search engines now!
