Downloading Reports

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hello, Tony!

Is it possible to download the stats to excel or grab the data somewhere to further track and analyze how people are using a site?

Thanks in advance for your help with this!

this might be coming this next day or two. another user just contacted me wanting this feature (the ability to download user visits data) and has offered to pay for its development costs. What data specifically were you wanting to export though? Anything in-particular that you were looking for in there?

I'm just trying to get a sense for how people are using my site.

Now, The Google Analytics tool is pretty cool. You can grab the metrics and dimensions and create your own reports,

in addition to their standard reports. If you build something like this, that would be tremendous. But, maybe there's no sense recreating the wheel, since people will likely use both.

For something quick, it would be great if you could make the tables you currently have displayed (plus a date stamp) available for download.

For some of the entries where data elements are listed below the entries you could move to columns next to each entry for the downloadable excel or a CSV file. I'd analyze in excel and maybe even build an Access database to store the historical data. If I could tie it to the Advertisements, that would be fantastic.

I'm using your analytics tool to augment Google Analytics and some other tools third party tool. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks!

I didn't see a "time on page" or "time on site" stat. If you capture this, that would be a great addition. :-)

there is a time on page stat when you inspect a user's visit history, but you're right, I haven't got the total time on the site there yet. thanks for the links above, I'll have a look to see if there are some good ideas there. that being said, I do think that sometimes analytics can be an information overload, and if you can just inspect users' paths through the site, it'll give you a more personal understand of what people are checking out on the site. thanks for the suggestions.

Sounds good.

In looking at the stats, I came across one that I wasn't sure about.

What does "timed out" mean when it's listed by a page. Does this mean that there is an issue with the site or that the person was on the page for over a certain amount of time?

Thanks for your outstanding support on this!

:)

no, that doesn't mean there was an issue, it just means that there was a long period of inactivity on your site by that user, and after 20 minutes without viewing other pages that visit ends.

If you do an update on the stats package, you should now notice a new Excel Export link with six worksheets of data in there for you.

Hi Tony!

I'm not sure if it's because I have new version of excel or if (Excel 2007) or if we need to bring the data over in a CSV format that can be opened with Excel. I noticed that Google allows exports to CSV and CSV for Excel.

I've attached the error message. I tried it three times. No luck. What do you think?

hmm, not sure what that is. would you be able to attach a zipped version of the excel file? or you could email it to me at tony@concrete5.org?

try doing another update. It looks like the concrete5 marketplace submission process was converting <?xml tags into <?php tags

hopefully it should be working for you now.
