Option to Upload a Video

Permalink Browser Info Environment
This looks like a useful add-on. I was thinking that it would be even better if we could upload a video (preferably a .flv) and use that instead of using YouTube (I think the youtube logo may confuse site visitors a bit). Can this be done in a future version of this add-on?

Thanks for your feedback. That is a good idea. The only catch with using a YouTube video is that their watermark must remain in place to comply with the T&C. But on the upside, it uses YouTube's bandwidth. If you have a website with even a reasonable amount of traffic, playing the video over and over again from your server will chew through bandwidth very quickly.

But for customers who really don't want to see that watermark, it certainly is an option. I'll add to to the list of features to consider building into the next version.

The watermark is a bit of a pain and would be good if it could be got rid of.
Wicked addon, love it and thinking of lots of applications for it.
Does the link have to be a YouTube one, I am guessing it could work for other video sites?

At the moment this add-on only works with YouTube, but I'll investigate the option for adding support for additional video sites in the next version.

Yeah, I wish I would be able to get rid of the watermark, but (apart from not being possible with the YouTube API), it would open a can of legal worms that aren't worth the headache. Possibly another video site would allow embedding without a watermark (eg. blip.tv).

Just bought this addon.
First purchase here.

I use kaltura for video.

Possibly a perfect match for Concrete5?

I'm pretty sure the watermark would not be an issue.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add Kaltura to a list of video sites to consider.

Can I add my two cents and suggest Vimeo? Watermark-less, high quality, fast streaming video. They've just switched to HTML5 too, so much faster.

A Flash video would take too long to load, especially with everything else trying to load too. Bad idea in my humble opinion.

Thanks for your feedback. I'll look into Vimeo. I'm also considering blip.tv at the moment. I too would love to see the watermark removed.

Not at this point. The Vimeo API is completely different to YouTube, so it doesn't support this kind of thing at the moment.
