Nav Search

Permalink Browser Info Environment
Hi all, the Search in the Nav doesn't function as expected: When user types in the Search area and pressed Enter, they're brought to a page which is not the search results page

Please see:http://musicstaffroom.com/
The page which returns is password protected, which is why you'll see a password request block. However, the correct search results page is nonprotected

Any help with this would be much appreciated,
King thanks in advance
Kevin

Hi,

The nav in search publish result to a page that have as handle 'search'. If this page is protected on your site or doesn't exist, just unlock or create it.

Thanks for your reply Seb, appreciated.
There is a page in placehttp://musicstaffroom.com/search... which is not hidden.. there is also /search/search-results/ which was created, again, not hidden.

Now it seems when the search function is used, it throws a mailto: link which is on another page. Any ideas would very much be appreciated

Else: how to remove the search function from the nav.. ?

Kind thanks
Kevin

Thank you for your follow up Seb,
The file now directs to the correct page, but search results aren't shown (I am searching for text which is on a public/unblocked page)

If you could please look into this fix as well, I'd much appreciate it

Thanks
Kevin

Hi Seb, I'm missing something here. I created a page called Search and added the Search block. It works fine. And if you type a URL like:
http://mydomainname/search/?query=route

it works just fine.

But when I try to use the search field in the main nav, it's trying to go to:
http://mydomainmane/?query=route

It's missing the 'search' page reference in the URL.

I tried using the super_mint.php file in your posting above for Kevin but that messed up my entire main nav so I backed it out.

Is this something I've misconfigured, or something on your end?

Tx,
Henry

Hi,

Did you have set a page for search in theme option page ? I think that will fix this behavior.
