Same issue
Dec 17, 2009 at 1:09 PM
I am having this issue as well. I can upload pdfs & txt files, but if I try to upload a gif, jpg, I no longer see the File Manager window and only see a blank page with the words "File Manager" & I have to restore my db to a previous backup. I have checked my Allowed File Types, and the gif & jpg are listed.
I have found error messages that indicate that FileSearchIndexAttributes table is being updated to include a new field (ak_), which I assume is related to the ak_id field. This value is null and that seems to be part of the problem.

I am using a new install of 5.3.3.1 on linux. Happens when using firefox or ie. Happens with different themes.
craps out whether I am uploading a single image, multiple images, or put the images in the incoming folder.

Same problem here :(

I'm using fresh 5.3.3.1 install from yesterday. Running on Hostmonster hosted site.
File manager worked at first, but when I uploaded a single JPeg image with the 'Add Block'-> 'Image' things started to go worse. Image download started ok, but process did not seem to end at all. I had to kill the upload with the Cancel button. After that File Manager view has been empty both in the Image upload and in the Dashboard.
The .jpg that I was downloading, came through just fine, so whatever went wrong, must have happened after the download was complete.

can you post a link to a phpinfo page so we can get a few more details about your configuration?

I just did two fresh installs and the file manager crapped out both times after I tried to upload a file. Now if
I click on File Manager from the dashboard, it just brings me to a blank page that says File Manager (see attached file FileManager1.gif)
If I try to add a file through the Image Chooser, I get the pop up, but it is blank (see attached file FileManager2.gif).
These were both installs using Simple Scripts yesterday on Bluehost. I did another one today and while the File Manager comes up initially, when I try to add a file, it takes a long time (even using a small file like 11kb) and just hangs. Then subsequent tries into file manager leads you to the examples attached.
My other site which is also on bluehost, yet under another account, (originally done by simple scripts, but upgraded manaually) seems fine. I can see the file manager and can upload phoots.
I am guessing there is something up with this fresh install package.

configuration looks good

Looks good to me..
Did you use simplescripts to install Concrete5? I never worked with it but it seems like a lot of people have problems with it.
I installed Concrete5 quite often but I can't reproduce this problem.
If it's not simplescripts, can you send my ftp and c5 login to a sandbox where I can have a look at this problem? There are quite a few people with this problem, someone should fix it.

Same Problem

I have the same problem that Susannahmp is having. I just did two fresh installs using SimpleScripts from my Cpanel. Both installs display the white File Manager screen. On my second install I got an actual file manager page but when I attempted to upload a .jpg it hung and then only the white screen would display thereafter.
install without simplescripts
Dec 30, 2009 at 5:06 PM
can you try to install it without simplescript?
It would help to know whether this issue is only causes by simplescript..
I never use simplescript and I don't have access to it but so far I never had this problem which make me believe it's just a simplescript issue

Working now...
Dec 30, 2009 at 6:44 PM
I reinstalled (the hard way) and everything seems to be working now. Kind of a pain in the butt though. sure wish the SimpleScripts options was more stable. Thanks!
okay..
Dec 30, 2009 at 6:51 PM
Well, at least we know what causes the problem..
Sure SimpleScripts might be nice but if it's not working. It's also hard for me (and other community members) to support that kind of stuff.
Not sure who built the install script but I guess some people behind SimpleScripts did. Guess they have to take care of these issues...

just it manually..
Jan 04, 2010 at 2:29 PM
..it only takes a few minutes and works fine..
It seems like SimpleScripts causes a few issues every once a while, just avoid it and you're fine.

Same problem on blue hosting
Jan 15, 2010 at 12:06 AM
I installed this through blue hosting and I have the same error except that the file manager never worked. I didn't do the install manually so I have no idea how I'd fix this.
install
Jan 24, 2010 at 7:23 PM
then install in manually, simplescripts breaks c5 with almost every update.
File Manager Page Gone!
Jan 27, 2010 at 10:15 AM
I've read the posts on the Concrete5 forum regarding File Manager being blank through SimpleScripts. I am experiencing this now and just want to be clear before I move forward. I seems the best suggestion is to reinstall Concrete5 "manually" rather than through SimpleScripts. My question: To do this, do I uninstall Concrete5 through SimpleScripts and then reinstall through the link provided at the Concrete5.org website?
File manager trying to add a picture
Feb 21, 2010 at 8:56 PM
File manager comes up blank. I even added the free Galleria images, get the same thing. Hostmonster said I have to contact you. I can't upload anything no options. Thanks
could be permission
Feb 21, 2010 at 9:07 PM
I did not have images enabled for some users and they experienced the same thing.
You may not have permissions set to enable image upload from the filemanager.
This is configurable in the dashboard.
