PORTLAND, OREGON (PRWEB) JANUARY 21, 2016

concrete5 will be used for all of the U.S. Army MWR web presence. The U.S. Army Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program supports Soldiers, Families and the more than 3 million individuals associated with the U.S. Army. After years of organic efforts across more than 80 garrisons, the web presence for all of MWR will be standardized on concrete5, version 7.

Over the last three years the U.S. Army MWR team has already successfully switched more than 40 MWR community sites to concrete5. Concrete5 is an ideal choice for an organization with a diverse group of content contributors. The system offers a consumer-friendly content editing experience, but with an enterprise stack of features including permissions and workflow. New editors can learn concrete5 in minutes or hours, instead of days and weeks.

This government contract is a significant milestone for concrete5. Released Open Source in 2008, concrete5 has slowly but steadily grown to the 4th most popular CMS. The platform fills a void between WordPress and Drupal for projects where easy administration of organic content by a team of people is important.

PortlandLabs is the company behind concrete5 and leads this project with a development team spread around the world. Franz Maruna, CEO comments, "We're delighted that the U.S. Army MWR team picked concrete5 out of the many systems they have researched as the right platform for their MWR web presence. The product is a great fit and is already serving them well, as it will for many years to come."

The project's initial phase is standardizing all content management across 80 garrisons into one centrally managed concrete5 install. The larger strategic potential includes adding online community, social features, and native mobile applications that securely share data with the site.
