We are very excited to announce a relaunch of top level pages on concrete5.org.

The new look weve had for the last year or two felt great, but the content didnt always deliver on the promise of the design. We had fallen into the age old trap of putting disparate content elements next to each other because we had some space. A muddled vision for each pages purpose left us feeling like someone in a great suit with no idea what theyre talking about.

Over the past months weve been really thinking about what we need to get across to first time visitors. Did we really wanted a /tour page, or if that shouldnt all just be communicated on the home page? Was it clear what the benefits of using concrete5 were at a glance? Could someone trying to do a feature comparison to other systems do that easily? Was it clear that we offered support contracts and did development work? An honest examination of our top level pages left us realizing we had some work to do.

In the interests of decentralizing parts of concrete5.org to their own installs (as we did with documentation.concrete5.org late last year) we also wanted the performance benefits and flexibility of having a shiny new version 7 install running our marketing content.

So ignoring our own best practices advices we launched this new content over the weekend and are patting ourselves on the back while cleaning up broken links now. ;) Its a strange setup technically to be sure. Were mapping some specific URLs to the new site (like home, the new /solutions section, and most of /about) while mapping everything else to the older install that powers the community functionality and marketplace. It makes logging into edit content a bit confusing, but it seems to be working pretty well for delivering a seamless experience to the public. Please do let us know if theres something off.

Some new content improvements you should check out:

  1. New home, /solutions and /solutions/support pages.
  2. Moved the blog (through our import routines.)
  3. Were now featuring case studies of what can be built with concrete5 right on our home page. These stories are not our own projects but rather cool work from community members. If youre in charge of an attractive or powerful concrete5 site, wed love to share your story there.
  4. Weve changed the way we price support away from three strict plans and towards a more custom calculator. Now you can design pricing with flexibility to your unique needs. The reality is each support client we have today is a unique relationship, so trying to force them into a three tiered product plan doesn't make any sense. Be it a single website that needs an uptime guarantee, or a webshop that needs best practices advice from our team, wed love to be working more directly with you. Play with the calculator and let us know a bit more about your needs so we can help you better.

Please note that if you find a bug, browser issue, or anything broken you can submit it here.

A HUGE THANK YOU

Thank you to the amazing people who made our website come to life. Thank you for the fantastic job you have been doing for concrete5 lately. Your hard work and dedication has really helped us out. We just wanted to make sure you know how much you are valued and appreciated.
