There comes a time
will greet yourself when you arrive
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile when greeting the other
and say, sit down. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give your heart back
to itself, to the stranger who all your life
loves you, but you ignored
for another, who knows you through and through.
Take the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate doodles,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit down. Enjoy your life.
