Advanced Permissions : Page Owner

I'm running 5.7.3.1 and having an issue with the Page Owner permission group. Seems that no matter what I assign - page owners are not able to edit their own pages.

My goal is to allow all registered users to create pages in particular areas, and then edit their own pages.

Page owners can go to create a page, and they're able to see the draft, but there's no edit button on the toolbar, and as such - no obvious way to edit the page content.

Thoughts?

I was able to skirt around this by setting up a new site and leaving Advanced Permissions disabled.

It would be nice though to be able to leverage advanced permissions -
