ergonomics on editing pages

Editing in 5.7 is much more time consuming than it was with 5.6. Besides the increased number of clicks required to edit contents, creating blocks sometimes is a real challenge! Dragging and dropping dangling icons over my screen is very intuitive and looks pretty cool. But if you really work on large pages, possibly on a non high-end up-to-date workstation it's very inconvenient, to say the least.
Is there or will there be an alternative mode to create blocks on pages? Something less cool but more ergonomic?

Hi cgrauer,

Version 5.7.4 of concrete5 will bring back "Add Block" to area menus.

'You can now add blocks to an area by clicking on the area and selecting “Add Block”. This will open the side panel and you may click a block, stack or clipboard entry there to add to the selected area.'
