How to move files to folders in C5 version 8

Hello,

C5 version 8 has a nice new feature, the folders. But how can I move files to the folders?

If the folders and the files are in the same page of file list, I just can use drag and drop. But when I move to the next page, or search a special file, how can I move then? Right click on the file doesn't offer my anything to move files. So how is it done??

Thanks for you help,
Harald

It seems nobody is using folders so far. Strange...

Hi HarryVienna

I couldn't recreate your issue. Filemanager works okay on my side. Not very fast but okay.
But I don't have that much images.

That's the problem!

The feature obviously was never tested with a website that has many images...

I started to use folders on two projects. But you're right. It's not possible to move files (drag & drop) when you don't see the folder.
Im missing a possibility like adding a file to album.
I will do a entry in bugtracker.

Actually it is possible. you select the files inside a folder then you drag them on the breadcrumd. IF you drop them on the link that says "File Manager" they will be put back at the root of the file manager. When you drop them make sure the File Manager link is highlighted in blue meaning it is the drop target.

Dear mnakalay

Thanks for replying and taking the time.
Yes I knew this with the breadcrumps and it helps in most situations. But in these scenarios it doesn't help:

Scenario 1:
You upgraded a site and you have a lot of files. So you create some folders to have a better structure in files. Now you search for a file. You notice that this should go to a specific folder. Now you don't see any folders. How would you handle that?

Scenario 2:
You have a long list of files. Your file is not on the same page as your folder or way down in the list. You can not reach your folder by dragging it.

So thats why i created a post in bugtracker. I should add these two scenarios.
But perhaps I'm missing something obvious I can do?

best regards
Roland

You are right, I don't see a solution in those to situations
