Image Galleries?

So any decent image galleries available yet for free? 5.7 looks and feels awesome but if more free addons aren't available soon I fear people will stop using it!

Hi garyjhills,

Thumb Gallery by Vivid is an excellent free gallery add-on. It is good enough that it should be a paid add-on, but the author is very generous and wanted to help support the 5.7 marketplace.

Once more developer documentation is out for 5.7, there should be a lot more 5.7 add-ons.

Thanks for the mention. Gary - we do have a few image galleries/sliders. If something doesn't meet your needs, shoot me an email.

Also, we have this form that people stumbled upon from all of our block demos:http://addons.market.isitvivid.com/block-requests...

Thanks for replying guys. I am not averse to buying themes & add-ons and have done so in the past on numerous occasions (I love C5 so want to support developers) I just love having options :)

Will check them out Michael. Looking forward to seeing what you Vivid guys come out with for themes and adds. You have made some cracking ones in the past and 5.7 is looking really swish :)

On further inspection of the thumb gallery there seem to be a lot of problems with it - one in particular i just had was that when first creating it you can not select a file set, then if you save it and try to add a fileset you get an error message - as one of the support notes that was left on 18th of December shows.

Shame, I was hoping this would be good

So 1. Yes, you'll need to create a fileset first. 2. You'll get an error message if you have nothing to save. While these are "bugs" they're also somewhat user errors that we need to handle more gracefully. In particular, the message your seeing is something I've only seen on a handful of non-us MYSQL installs. It's an easy-to-fix issue we'll address shortly.

That said, go create a fileset, put some images in there, and then save it. You shouldn't have issues.

I just want to add, that the above-mentioned issue is related to any change of an existing thumb gallery block. No matter what i'm trying to edit, the sort order of files or any other editable values, as soon as i click save, that error message is displayed and nothing is getting saved. Even if you don't want to call that issue a bug: one should just be able to edit an existing block.

Glad to hear that you are planning to look into it, because thumb gallery is certainly a nice one. BTW, what would you think about the suggestion to create a paid gallery add-on, based on thumb gallery, but with more features?

Thanks that's good to know.

That said, I'm always open to hear suggestions. If you have any features in mind, post it as a discussion (on the thumb gallery forums). Depending on the complexity, I'd be happy to consider them. There's a few features in there now that were suggested by users.

The problem I have with it is that it doesn't show me any of the filesets I have created when I first add the block so if I save it with no file sets, then go back in to edit - it then shows the file sets and then the error message because I have tried to edit it. Very weird.

SCratch that last message - it's working great now - must have been a glitch in the matrix -and might I say - It looks AWESOME!! Thanks so much for making this available free :D :D

Life is weird like that. :) Leave a review if it helps you. Again, I'm open to suggestions as well if you have them. Just start a post in the addon's forums.
