Moving from 5.6 to 5.7

I assume that moving from 5.62 5.7 is not an update but rather a complete replacement of 5.6. If I install 5.7, will I lose the themes and page types that exist in 5.6?

You will need new themes, since both themes and addons for 5.7 are very different from the legacy versions. You'll need to re-create everything in 5.7, including page types, themes, etc.

There is a migration tool, but I would just install a blank 5.7 install and copy/paste the theme you have right now and update the theme to 5.7 standards. Create pages again and block types again, as there is too much fuss migrating all this stuff (imho).

What is the real benefit of moving to 5.7? My site is a simple one. Only a handful of member-writers are expected to use it.

Uhm, more features out of the box with 5.7. Code is a whole lot more up-to-date and you can create Add-Ons more easily (and beautifully). But if your site works as is and you don't need any extra's, you could leave it the way it is? Totally up to your needs!
