Selecting Attribute Defaults in 5.7 for Page Types

Permalink
What's the method now for selecting defaults for a page attribute now? Formerly, I was able to edit a page type defaults, select a placeholder thumbnail, or go ahead and checkbox "exclude from autonav", or put in some other default. In 5.7 that doesn't seem possible. I'd also want the ability to do so, without it necessarily being in the composer form.

So is the type of functionality just gone, or am I missing something?

It's currently gone but it's coming back. Same with page type default permissions (in advanced permissions mode.) You can place these attributes in composer for a page type, and then you'd see them and be able to edit them easily when creating a page – but it's not quite the same.

They are available on the Page Types page in the Attributes section.
Dashboard > Pages & Themes > Page Types > Attributes button

Indeed, but the values selected do not persist into composer, if you have them set up as a set in the form. There seems to be no way to set composer defaults when adding set to page type form. And adding composer attributes overides the page attributes if they are set. To get the attribute defaults to persist I had to remove them as options from composer.

I'm still experiencing this issue, is there a way to have a default thumbnail attribute, while still being able to change it in composer on page creation?

@buurvrouw,

I can confirm this.

- create page type
- add the form items
- set a default image as the thumbnail attribute

When you create a new page using this page type, there is no image selected in Composer.

Have you checked the bug tracker to see if others are experiencing this issue? If no one has reported this issue, I recommend reporting it and including the steps required to repeat the error.

I am surprised that there are 10 up votes and 10 down votes for it. Which makes me wonder what other variables are involved.
