session handler error

I have just tried to visits a site i created a few months back and all i get now is this:
An unexpected error occurred.
SessionHandler::read(): open(/tmp/sess_f6b6ecce72b5198df9c59dad681b63c7, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13)
Is this a bug or attack as not sure and cant login to backend either.
