Blog Customization

I've set up a blog using C5's native tools (no addons) and I have one issue. I have a Blog menu item and all of the blog articles will be children of this parent item. I do not want these children to show up in the navigation so I Exclude from nav.

However, on my blog pages I have an Archives feature where users can browse past articles via month (Date Navigation Block) and also a Next and Previous block so users can go back and forth between articles. These only work if Exclude from Nav is off.

How can I keep the Archive and Prev/NExt functionality in place AND not have the pages show up in the navigation?

Hi there,

I have done a tutorial on just this sort of thing, it's not exactly what you want to do from the sound of things, but you should be able to adapt it, you can see it here

Hi Vidall,

Thanks for the response. I actually found a thread that did exactly what I was looking for:

http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/usage/include-in-date-nav...

Basically, adding the exclude_subpages_from_nav attribute to the Blog page, allowed me to keep the blog articles from appearing in the subnav but it didn't affect them from appearing in the Date Navigation, etc.
