Custom 404 Page

I've searched and found several tutorials for creating a custom 404 page but nothing is working for me. I am running 5.4.2.2.

I have a feeling that the tutorials I am reading are for older versions of C5?

Are there any up-to-date tutorials?

Thanks for the link. I followed the directions and this is what I ended up with:

Although it now contains the sitemap, the theme is still the original and not my theme.

This is a Great Tutorial and I urge everyone to use a customized 404 / site map approach, especially in cases of a redesign (moving from html to php)
