email with Bluehost

I've seen similar problems in the forum, but haven't found a solution that works for me. I have several installations of Concrete5 (5.7 all the way up to the latest v8) hosted on Bluehost. I cannot find the golden ticket to send emails via the website. Using PHP appears to work, but no email is actually sent. No luck with SMTP either. I use Gmail servers and either get timeout error or socket error. Is this a php.ini issue? (seems like it's set to port 25) or a user error? I'm assuming user name and password is my gmail info, not Concrete5 user and password. SSL? TLS? Port number? I'm a programming noob, and Concrete5 used to play nice with Bluehost and emails. Not sure which has changed... thanks in advance if anyone else uses Bluehost and can pass on a fix.

Hi jleinbaugh,

Just to clarify, you have multiple installs of concrete5 on Bluehost and each one is having mail sending issues? Were you ever able to send mail?

Have you used the Test Mail Settings feature?
Dashboard > System & Settings > Email > SMTP Method > Test Mail Settings

What are the full errors that you receive when sending email?

I recommend contacting Bluehost tech support.
