Interest in a Shopify add-on?

Hey all,

Last year I put together an _almost_ feature-complete add-on that tightly integrates Shopify with concrete5. It useshttps://www.shopify.com.au/buy-button,... which means you can add blocks for products, list collections of products, with the cart being displayed as an overlay panel.

If you've seen or used our Snipcart add-on, it's actually quite similar in the way it works - the big difference being that with Shopify the products are created and configured within the Shopify administration and you simply pick the product when adding a block.

Shopify does have a 'Buy Button' generator available (https://help.shopify.com/manual/sell-online/buy-button/create-buy-button) where you can make configurations and cut and paste code in. My add-on achieves the same outcome (it's using the same scripts), but with more flexibility and without needing to repeatedly use their configuration tool.

The main idea of this add-on is that you'd use it when you have a concrete5 site where you'd like to enable direct ordering, but you're using Shopify for your product management and order processing. You might really want to use Shopify, but you don't want to style/configure an actual Shopify site, so you'd use this to pull the Shopify products and cart into your concrete5 site.

The add-on I currently have developed is fully working, and used on production sites, but it has a few additional aspects to do with styling that I'd want to enhance and make more user-friendly before considering the marketplace.

So I'm just wondering - do people use Shopify with their projects and would potentially be interested in this add-on?

Hi mesuva,

Being able to use an existing concrete5 site while taking advantage of Shopify's ecommerce platform would be very useful. It would be a "best of both worlds" type add-on.

I think a couple of our clients might be interested in that, would be a nice feature to have in the pocket when doing sales too

I have a client that has Shopify, so this would be of interest.

Also, having a Shopify addon would help encourage more interest in Concrete5 overall. There needs to be more ecommerce addons in the marketplace!

Hi. I have a client with a Concrete5 site that needs to use Shopify. Did you get any further with development of the add-on?

Yes, I've continued to work on the add-on I mentioned, it's quite well tested and production worthy, it's just not something that I felt would be easy to manage as a marketplace item.

Feel free to send me an email to ryan@mesuva.co.uk, and we can talk about your requirements, I can send a few examples, etc.

It's been a while since this original post, but our Shopify add-on is finally live in the marketplace:https://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/ecommerce-with-shopify...

It'll be fully compatibility with v9 when that comes into play (same with our other add-ons).

There's a video on the add-on that shows how you install it and how it works. It's a bit rough, but I did it in one take!
