Really useful block - does it exist?

I am running a website providing information to my local area in the current Covid-19 crisis. It is a very fast moving situation requiring a lot of regular updates. A block that would display the last 3 (number isn't important) updated or created pages with a short synopsis taken from the page description together with a link to the page would be very helpful. At the moment I am doing it manually and its a pain. Does it exist, is it even possible?

It's not just a block, it's an application, but it does come with a block displaying the last x-number of posts ;)

Wouldn't page_list with a custom template do this for you?

If you can wait, I made and submitted to a marketplace PRB review a free simple file list block which displays files from either a File Manager file folder, a file set or a server folder.
