Scheduled posts still displaying 'space'

Hi All
I am setting up a bunch of blogs to schedule but when I do the page list still displays a space as if it is there. The space can be clicked to go to the scheduled page.
I have played around with the page list settings but no joy. Even selecting showing only pages before 'today' and setting this to a low number to see if it helps. Which is does not.
Any ideas?

I have created the following page to show the issue. I have created a page to be scheduled a month in advance. You will see it displays the 'space' without the thumbnail etc.
One is a 'live post' the other is the scheduled one...

Scheduled posts seem to put them way in the past but as you can see it still shows the 'space' for it.
