The new "Data Types" announced

I was excited to hear the news of the coming of "Data types" in Concrete5 as i am assuming this is equivalent to drupal entities (creating objects that are 1st-class citizens (like pages), inheriting free CRUD and libraries in the backend etc). Data types were touched upon very lightly in the new video, anybody have any information on exactly what they will be and when we can expect it? Thanks
I am very interested in Data Types too. I don't think there is any official timeline or details yet.
There is a version 8 branch you can look through for more potential information.
