Website error -- Unable to connect to database

Our website page is down. I'm seeing the following error message: "Unable to connect to database: A database error occurred while processing this request." We have not done anything to our website. Anyone know how to fix or who to ask for help?
Ask your hosting company to sort it out, it is not a concrete5 error.
What do you mean by hosting company? I'm the only one who updates the website and nothing has been changed.
The hosting company means the company that hosts your website including all the files, database, etc.
Unless you have your own server that is connected to the internet?
